Java EE 6 Development with NetBeans 7 - Nice Book

NetBeans 7 is a wonderful Integrated Development Environment, which works on almost all popular Operating Systems. More over it is free. It enables developers to rapidly create web, enterprise, desktop and mobile applications. Most of the projects in the market are on web development. Now the concern is

  • How could we develop those web applications with minimum effort and with less number of resources?

  • How do we avoid writing boiler plate code?

  • How to concentrate more on the business logic rather than wasting time on putting the front end components on the web page as per the design.

  • How fast could we add more features to the existing components and many more?

To address all the above points and many more other concerns we have NetBeans 7 IDE ready. To download and know more about the IDE, please visit http://netbeans.org/index.html

Just having the tool in the hand is not sufficient. We need to know how to use it. Just knowing how to use it even does not help much. We should able to use it efficiently and effectively. For that we need to explore the tool well.

Java EE 6 Development with NetBeans 7 was written by Mr. David R. Heffelfinger. This book covers almost everything needed, starting from obtaining and installing the IDE. The explanation is lucid with clear screen shots for each and every step. This book is very helpful for the developers who have started using the IDE for the first time. This is not just for the new bees, but also for the experienced. The author has also covered the debugging and profiling part. This book clearly explains how to debug a web application and how to run the profiler on that. The major portion of the book explains developing web applications using the NetBeans7 along with a brief introduction on what is being developed. I feel that the author has achieved his purpose of making the readers understand how to use the IDE effectively and help them in developing the web applications more rapidly.

The book has 392 pages with a beautiful cover page. It covers the following topics

Netbeans Installation, deploying application, web application development with servlets and JSPs, Custom tags, JSFs, PrimeFaces, Java Persistence API, Session Beans, Contexts and Dependency Injection, Messaging with JMS and Message Driven Beans, SOAP web services with JAX-WS, web services, debugger and profiler.

The book is also available online at http://www.packtpub.com/java-ee-6-development-with-netbeans-7/book

I found this book very useful and prefer purchasing it. I have 4 years of development experience in desktop and web applications. I worked on logistic, financial, health and telecom domains. I have been using NetBeans for the past 3 years. A part from my regular job, I have been freelancing for few projects and developed those projects using NetBeans. It’s a wonderful experience using the IDE and now this book has doubled it. I would like to thank the author for making such a wonderful book and also the PacktPub for making it available online.
